Approach
Formose is a series of lamps born from research into structuring material through folding. By tensioning recycled cardboard through precise folding, the process exploits the material’s flexibility while giving it both its shape and rigidity, resulting in original geometries. This method allows for the creation of diverse forms—some complex, others difficult to achieve through alternative techniques. The transformation grants the object overall rigidity while preserving its functional flexibility and malleability.

Materials
The project also aims to elevate a material culturally destined for disposal by leveraging its lightweight and rigid properties. The recycled cardboard is upholstered with textile, seamlessly integrating into domestic, decorative, and long-lasting use. The textile covering offers an infinite choice of colors, textures, materials, or patterns. The exterior of the lamp can thus adopt a customizable finish, while its interior remains white to maintain optimal lighting efficiency.

Light
The folded structure not only enhances the cardboard but also sculpts the light. The regular geometry of the folds creates a play of shadows and light, with varying intensity depending on the type of lighting. The interplay between light and the folded framework produces a vibrant effect with LED lighting or a softer, more subdued ambiance with a diffused bulb.

Assembly
The lamps are crafted from cardboard sheets shaped using snap buttons, making them transportable in a flat state. They can also be easily disassembled and stored.
